Biography

Saif is a PhD candidate in the Department of Population Health Sciences at King’s College London, specializing in clinical guidelines, clinical decision support, and machine learning. His research focuses on validating clinical guidelines in cases of co-morbidity by developing a predictive model that utilises real-world Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) data, coupled with a counterfactual engine to generate explainable treatment plans that address conflicts in guidelines. Saif holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a year in industry from King’s College London, where he conducted a thesis on the integration of a phenotype library into EHR workflows. In addition to his academic pursuits, he served as a tech lead in NHS GP practices, where he developed native tools within EHR systems to enhance clinical decision support and automate workflows for chronic disease management and vaccination programs. During his placement year at Accenture, Saif worked as a Cloud Engineer on the NHS Test Platform, overseeing AWS service infrastructure and software releases. He is also actively involved in teaching undergraduate students in the Department of Informatics.
